When I started this Substack, I was full steam ahead; new year, new me type beat. And it was working—multiple posts a week, ideas flowing like water, and interacting with the writers I’ve subscribed to and love. What I neglected to realize in my haze of fresh hobby excitement is that my life is (and has been) booked and busy…oops! Time to get back on the horn. I could wax on about the last few weeks of photo shoots, social obligations, and personal life updates, but that is not why you or I are here. So let’s get the reps in.
This is not to say that my tabs have taken a hiatus. I’m still a shopper even on my most jam-packed days. Something about scouring the internet brings me such a sense of solace, one that I should maybe replace with, I don’t know, ANYTHING BETTER? Alas—different strokes. Onward! A quick and dirty list of the buys on my mind. Sip your coffee and settle in.
This wool sweater from COS in my favorite cerulean color way. I’ve reopened this tab so many times, and the price is right, yet I’m convinced spring is coming early to New England. In any case, I have a myriad of staple sweaters in fresh colors, and she’d fit right in. The drop shoulders…need I say more?
The pinnacle of rice paper lamps in the form of this Akari stunner that I mentioned is buoying me. Rent free living in the form of floor lighting. Sculpture and function. Weird thing to be wasting brain power on. I can also picture this in a nursery??? Not like a regular baby, a cool baby. This is what I sound like right now:
Not really something I see working in my own home, but I love this for someone else: a simple steel stool from Zara Home. I love it used as a nightstand, or to pedestal a plant. By the way, don’t sleep on ZH. There are some EGREGIOUS prices on large case goods from the Vincent Van Duysen collaboration, to the tune of $11,000 for a dining cabinet (unfortunately I love), but there are still amazing staples that feel fresh and collected in their regular catalog.
Remember the years of receiving calendars under the Christmas tree? Bring me back to physically marking birthdays and not living in the confines of my Google calendar. As with most buys that enter my front door, or anything that lands on my walls, it must be artful. And with this riso printed calendar from People I’ve Loved x Chute Studio, I’d drive a nail into drywall in an instant to proudly display. As a plus, it’s open-dated.
Maybe it’s the Valentines Day spirit, or maybe they’re just fun: these Mondo Mondo earrings. I have a long-standing love affair with tasteful gold hearts and these are speaking to me. The materialization listed on Ssense is incorrect; these are 18k gold vermeil over sterling silver, so if you have sensitive ears, these are for you. The price tag is steep, but I have these similar earrings for a mere fraction of cost.
Still on a ballet flat kick (coming from a boot girl, this is shocking)—I’ve been sitting on this purchase for a while but may pull the trigger on the white Jada flats by Freda Salvador. I know my cost per wear would shake out to be worth it, especially with SS ‘24 near on the horizon.
In the same vein—I think I need a Marni Market Fish Bag. Seems like the perfect “throw and go” mini tote, and while I still haven’t learned to crochet (I have 323 days) that doesn’t stop me from staring down the barrel of every crochet item to pass my desk. Hoping to find this pre-loved to save coins!
Less dainty jewelry in 2024. Unfortunately this chili pepper bracelet sold out, however, this blue chili *could* fit the bill. Bonus points for sharing a name with my cat.
Still on the forever hunt for an aluminum Paul Mayen planter with an accompanying humongous tree. I have not stopped daydreaming about this photo since I first laid eyes upon it:
The Donni rib kick flare. This is a purchase I’ve neglected for only two reasons: I know I’ll have to get them tailored, and I don’t know which color I want. Now that I’m back in the office three days per week, I need to marry chic with comfort—and the 100% cotton denim I’ve been tossing on might kill me on the spot one of these days.
And just like that, I’m cured! Putting digital pen to paper again has the creative juices boiling hot, so keep an eye on your inbox for more niche deep dives soon. If nothing else, I hope today’s newsletter provided some inspiration for your own buys—and I’d love to hear what you’re searching for. So if you’re on the hunt for links, drop your ideas in the comments and I’ll compile for a future stack.
Until next time.
Now I need that Marni bag!!
